I saw this quote on the Positive Outlooks Blog and it triggered some thoughts in my own mind.
Don’t let past relationships and old mistakes ruin your future. Don’t let someone or something that didn’t make it in your life continue to hurt you. If you do, you’re still giving a portion of your life to something that no longer exists – it’s like letting your happiness slip into a black hole. Learn the lesson, release the pain, and move on. Scars remind us of where we have been, not where we are headed. — Unknown
I have a scar or two, physical ones and emotional ones. You probably do, too. Some people relish their scars and use them to justify holding on to unforgiveness, resentments and bitterness.
The quote above gives us a better perspective. I prefer to say that my scars are evidence that painful experiences have been overcome and lessons have been learned. Scars are meant to remind us that we have survived; and we can do it again. Scars are also testimonies to the healing power of prayer, forgiveness and gratitude.
Gratitude? Yes, gratitude. One of the marks of maturity is learning to be thankful for every challenge that comes our way for through each one, we are gifted with the opportunity to become a better person.
Greatness of spirit is achieved one scar at a time!
